BCS Game Fan Departures Will Be Record for Airport
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 7, 2008, New Orleans – Record post-Katrina crowds are expected at the Airport as the BCS Bowl Game fans depart New Orleans. Scheduled carriers have also increased their flights by adding extra flights or increasing aircraft size to meet the demand for the special event.
Armstrong saw a surge of over 17,000 passengers departing on the day after the Sugar Bowl, a post-Katrina record. The Airport expects approximately 19,000 passengers to depart on Tuesday, January 8, the day after the championship game.
Passengers departing on Tuesday, January 8 should plan on arriving at the Airport 2 ½ to 3 hours prior to their scheduled departure time. Passengers may experience some delays because of the huge out flux of visitors. If you are traveling on Tuesday, please be patient and remember to arrive early.
