WHY: Concerts in the Courtyard, The Historic New Orleans Collection's popular outdoor music series, returns Friday, Sept. 16, with a performance from Walter "Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters.
Now in its ninth year, Concerts in the Courtyard offers a fun, affordable way to kick off the weekend. In addition to the Walter "Wolfman" Washington, the fall series will include shows by The Tumbling Wheels (Friday, Oct. 21) and the Colin Lake Band (Friday, Nov. 18).
All concerts this season feature a bar offering white wine and craft beer. Admission is $10, free for THNOC members, and includes three beverages. Shows are held at 533 Royal St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the concerts are 6-8 p.m. THNOC's museum shop will be open during the event. In the event of rain or for more details, call (504) 523-4662 or visit www.hnoc.org.

About the band

Walter "Wolfman" Washington cut his teeth backing up some of the best singers and performers in New Orleans history before putting together his longtime band, the Roadmasters, who have been burning up local and national stages since the 1980s. His style combines rhythm and blues, blues, New Orleans funk and modern jazz into one unique sound. There is a little Bobby Blue Bland, a little Kenny Burrell, a little George Benson, a little church and a lot of New Orleans charm in a Walter "Wolfman" Washington performance.

Capacity is limited and the event is designed for a standing audience. Outside chairs, food and beverages are not permitted on the premises. In the event of rain or inclement weather, visit www.hnoc.org or call (504) 523-4662 for updates.
