New Ghost Experience Offered This Halloween in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LA, OCTOBER 12, 2016 - While walking tours fill the streets of the French Quarter and haunted house attractions promise lots of blood and gore, one local company is offering a new kind of Halloween experience guaranteed to "raise your spirits." New Orleans Secrets has unlocked additional opportunities to attend The Secret Sessions, a unique blend of ghost hunt...and séance.

The event begins with a brief French Quarter ghost walk. This is not your typical New Orleans ghost tour, however, as guests are taught methods to identify spirit activity and are provided ghost hunting tools to use while they hear haunted stories at three locations. Guests are then led into an alleged haunted building where they can browse through a collection of haunted artifacts and curiosities that are on display. The experience concludes with a recreation of a full Victorian era séance, as seen on shows like Penny Dreadful, Supernatural, and the X-Files.

"Each time we attempt to communicate with the spirits, there are things that happen," said James Corbyn, paranormal entertainer and leader of The Secret Sessions experience for New Orleans Secrets. Every Sessions experience is different, but past guests have experienced loud knocks and ringing bells, witnessed items moving, observed EMF gauges and motion detectors go haywire, and been suddenly overcome with emotion. "One hotel told us their guests had to keep the lights on all night afterward because they were so frightened," Corbyn said. While the event isn't necessarily meant to scare guests outright, "Witnessing unexplained events during the Session can certainly have that affect," Corbyn explained. "For that reason, we conclude with a cleansing ritual so that no spiritual energy follows anyone home!"

As evident by their reviews, guests have been raving about The Secret Sessions since they first began this past summer. Due to their popularity and small group size (each Session is limited to just thirteen guests), the Halloween season is already nearly sold out. To accommodate for the extra demand, New Orleans Secrets has added more dates in October. Space is now available on Thursdays through Saturdays, October 20-22 and 27-29, as well as a Halloween Session on Monday, October 31. Beginning at 8:30pm, the Sessions conclude about 11:30pm. Tickets are $55 per person and can be booked online or by phone. Guests must be at 21 or over and able to climb up and down one flight of stairs during the event.
