NEW ORLEANS - December 12, 2016 - The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau (NOCVB) announced that Vicki Bristol has been promoted to senior communications and marketing manager.

Bristol previously served as NOCVB's communications manager specializing in media relations management and social media for three years. In this new position, her role will be expanded to include media relations management for all domestic media, including inbound and outbound media events, as well as editing NOCVB's website. She will be instrumental in creating and implementing the organization's 2017 public relations plan to engage national media and key influencers to enhance the brand of the organization as a premier business and leisure destination. She will support the director of marketing through a layered public relations approach, oversee domestic press trip coordination, daily management of NOCVB's public relations and social media agencies of record, and editorial management for NOCVB's website.

Bristol has held numerous leadership positions in the city, including currently serving on the executive board for the Young Leadership Council and participating in the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute. She is actively involved in the Press Club of New Orleans and Public Relations Association of Louisiana. Prior to working at NOCVB, Bristol served as a communications strategist for Gambel Communications, a local public-relations agency. She holds a B.A. in communication from Loyola University and a M.S. in hospitality and tourism management from the University of New Orleans.

Tourism is a $7 billion industry in New Orleans employing more than 80,000 residents. NOCVB's public relations team contributes to annual visitor growth through strategic earned media relations, both domestically and abroad. Annually, the department assists nearly 2,000 media resulting in more than 900 positive media placements for the destination.
