Shoeboxus the Ultimate ‘May The Fourth Be With You' Mini-Parade 2017

The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus (IKOC) will again present its "Shoeboxus" mini-parade, with festivities starting and ending this year at Dat Dog Frenchmen as the host of the official post-parade party. The satirical sci-fi and Star Wars themed parade features hand-crafted shoebox showcases by sub-krewes. After debuting the Sacred Wookiee Shrine and dedicated Krewe of Chewbacchus room upstairs at Dat Dog Frenchmen earlier this year, both parties are excited to unite once again and utilize the space for the ‘May the Fourth Be With You' celebration. Guests may wander out to the Ewok Village on the balcony and admire the table artwork designed and crafted by participating sub-krewes of Chewbacchus. The funky and mystical designs include unicorns, The Last Supper-inspired scene with hot dogs, and a Millennium Falcon-shaped memorial to fallen pop icons.

Food & Drink Specials
During parade day from 6 p.m. to midnight, guests will receive $1 off certain special IKOCtails, (Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus cocktails), including new Jedi and Sith-themed cocktails. Additionally, $1 from every Wookiee Wiener (andouille sausage, andouille sauce, sauerkraut, grilled onions, and chipotle mayo) will be donated to the STOMP Troopers, a special inclusion program that creates a way for children with autism to roll in the Chewbacchus parade. Chewbacchus and the STOMP Troopers implement solution-driven initiatives to encourage autistic children to not only attend New Orleans celebrations of culture, but to actively participate in parades, concerts and festivals.

Costume & Shoebox Float Contest
To get everyone in the Star Wars spirit, a costume and shoebox float contest will commence after the parade. The four judges include: King and Queen of Shoeboxus (Drew Fu Varick and Jules Muck/Muck Rock); Ryan Ballard, Space Commander Chewbaccacabra: Overlord and Conceptual Artist; and Jake Williamson, GM of Dat Dog Frenchmen. Interested entrants are required to register their floats and/or costumes in advance at The ‘Best Costume' and ‘Best Shoebox Float' winners will be presented with Dat Dog gift cards and IKOC merchandise.

Everyone! Greater New Orleans community, visitors, extraterrestrial tourists

Thursday, May 4, 2017
Parade lines up at 6 p.m. and rolls at 7 p.m.

The parade will begin and end at Dat Dog located at 601 Frenchmen St., New Orleans, LA 70116

Dat Dog and Krewe of Chewbacchus are providing a unique experience for locals and visitors to enjoy, while raising money for a good cause.

About Dat Dog
The first Dat Dog opened in a 475-square-foot shack in a post-Hurricane Katrina neighborhood on February 14, 2011. More affectionately referred to as a hot dog stand to remind guests of happy times at a picnic, ball park, concert or vacation, CEO and Founder Constantine Georges wanted to put a smile on his neighbors' faces. Dat Dog did just that and began expansion in New Orleans. The company currently operates restaurants on New Orleans' Frenchmen Street, Freret Street, Magazine Street and at Lakeside Mall. Dat Dog is a place where fun-loving staff, Hawaiian-shirt, laid-back culture, music and individuality are embraced. Combining the soul of New Orleans with European sophistication, Dat Dog's artfully crafted cuisine of hot dogs, sausages, burgers and chicken can be dressed in a selection of 30 toppings to create your own "jazz improvisation in a bun." About Krewe of Chewbacchus
The mission of the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is to save the galaxy by bringing the magical revelry of Mardi Gras to the poor, disenfranchised, socially awkward and generally weird masses who may have never had the opportunity to participate in a Mardi Gras Parade Organization. Through our works, we hope to elevate all aspects of Fandom and celebrate Carnival in our own unique way. To learn more about the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus, please visit or
