NEW ORLEANS BASTILLE DAY FETE 2017

New Orleans, LA - This year's edition of Bastille Day Fête will take place Friday, July 14 at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) from 6-10pm, presented by the Alliance Française of New Orleans, the Consulate General of France in Louisiana, the French-American Chamber of Commerce- Gulf Coast Chapter, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation.

Bastille Day Fête provides an opportunity for French and American families to celebrate France's national holiday and the strong French heritage in our state. Louisiana is the most francophone state in the US, and the population of French citizens in Louisiana is steadily growing. The New Orleans festival was ranked 3rd best Bastille Day festival in the world by Reuters.com; and Fodor's also listed it as an event worth traveling to New Orleans for.

The event is celebrated by francophone communities around the world with festivals, balls, dances, parades, and firework displays to celebrate the storming of the Bastille, a fortress prison in Paris on July 14th 1789, igniting the French Revolution.

This year, activities will take place indoors only and will include music and dancing with local swing band the Bon Bon Vivant, a cooking demonstration by Café NOMA, guided gallery visits, numerous French-themed kids' activities and more.
The event will also be an opportunity to say farewell to Consul General Grégor Trumel, who will leave Louisiana this summer after three years of service.
