The House of Shock, New Orleans' Original Haunted House & Horror Show, Turns 25!
New Orleans' #1 Haunted House celebrates 25 years of fear by paying homage to city's own macabre history, including new wax-museum exhibit

NEW ORLEANS (Aug. 30, 2017) - The New Orleans-based House of Shock, a long-time leader in the haunted attraction industry, is celebrating 25 years of haunts and horrors. The anniversary exhibit and performances will pay tribute to NOLA's storied, macabre history - just in time for the city's tri-centennial celebration. The horror show and world-class haunted houses open to the public September 30.

Frights for 2017 include:
The House of Wax - Brand-new exhibit!
o Paying tribute to the city's grisly industry and the old Musee Conti wax museum that stood in the French Quarter for 51 years.
o Rooms dedicated to local horrifying happenings, including the Murderess Madame Delphine Lalaurie, The Legend of the Rougarou, Marie Laveau, and Morgus the Magnificent.
Laff in the Dark 3D - Back by popular demand!
o An all-out 3D clown assault: a nod to classic funhouses, named after the infamous Pontchartrain Beach Fun House.
o The entire exhibition also features floor-to-ceiling 3D paint murals, adding a tinge of kaleidoscopic hallucination to the otherwise depraved clown nightmare.
Signature House of Shock Haunted House -
o 25,000 terrifying square feet, including The Bunker of Torture chamber room.
New Live Stage Show - All outdoor festivities are free to the public!
o Hosted by Lord Belial, featuring pyrotechnics, contortionists, sword swallowers, suspension body modifiers, demons, and musical acts.
o Full service bar and food stations located nearby.
Opening Night Zombie Prom featuring Meriwether - Sept. 30
o The New Orleans debut of the reunited original members of the Interscope recording artists Meriwether!
o Come dressed for the Zombie Prom and receive $5 off admission to The House of Shock!
25th Birthday Video Retrospective - Stay tuned!
o Rolling out in the coming weeks!
The House of Shock Demon Van -
o Traveling across south Louisiana leading up to Halloween, sharing gifts, prizes and contests deals. Scares come free, too.

House of Shock has weathered Hurricane Katrina, economic downturns, and even some public ire to provide scares - and fun - to the New Orleans community and traveling horror enthusiasts for a quarter century.
House of Shock's lurid longevity is made possible by the dedication of a family of 350+ volunteers, who contribute their complimentary skillsets to raise the bar on exhibits and performances year-in-and-out.

Ross Karpelman, House of Shock founder, notes, "We're humbled by our 25th birthday. The House of Shock has been a long-time favorite - in a city that truly does Halloween like no other. We'll be going all-out for our anniversary - bigger and more twisted than ever, and per usual, all made possible by the passion of our House of Shock family. Serendipitously, the Halloween deities smiled on our birthday, granting us a Friday the 13th!"

The House of Shock has always been proud to fashion itself and its storylines based on New Orleans' own rich, 300-year history of the macabre. View dates, purchase tickets and learn more at www.houseofshock.com.

About The House of Shock
The House of Shock was founded in 1993 by Ross Karpelman, Jay Gracianette, Steven Joseph and friends. A discussion between these lifelong friends about what Halloween meant to them as children rekindled their desire to recreate that feeling as adults, while sharing it with the youth of today. Since then, House of Shock has grown into a leader and trendsetter in the haunted attraction industry. The House of Shock boasts a 25,000-square-foot haunted house attraction comprised of three beefed up events - The House of Shock Haunted House, The House of Wax and Laff in the Dark 3D. The House of Shock operates with assistance from more than 350 volunteers who add their own brand of fright to the night. The haunted experience also includes a full-service bar, live music and a horror show. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, The House of Shock has enjoyed national and international exposure through publications such as Rolling Stone, Maxim, Playboy, BuzzFeed and Yahoo!, and was named Haunted Attraction Magazine's "Number One Haunted House in the Country" in 2014 and The Travel Channel's "Most Intense Haunted Attraction" in 2007.
