Historic dinner series begins with a Storyville-inspired feast

Dickie Brennan's Tableau Restaurant and The Historic New Orleans Collection couple history with fine dining

WHO: Dickie Brennan's Tableau Restaurant and The Historic New Orleans Collection

WHAT:"A Historic Storyville Dinner"

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 • 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Dickie Brennan's Tableau Restaurant, 616 St. Peter St.

HOW: Early-bird tickets: $85 (available through Sept. 20) • General tickets: $100

WHY: On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Dickie Brennan's Tableau Restaurant and The Historic New Orleans Collection will collaborate to create an unforgettable evening exploring the food, libations and businesses that shaped New Orleans's former red-light district, Storyville.
"A Historic Storyville Dinner" features a six-course feast crafted by Tableau's Executive Chef John Martin coupled with period-inspired cocktails and historical commentary. Based on menus from THNOC's holdings and culinary delights found in New Orleans between 1897 and 1917, courses include, "Gulf Shrimp Joinville," "Petit Filet of Beef Mahogany Hall-Pan" and a "Raspberry Jelly Roll Morton."
Speakers include Elizabeth Pearce, founder and owner of Drink & Learn and the author of "Drink Dat New Orleans" (Countryman Press, 2017) and Pamela D. Arceneaux, senior librarian and rare books curator at THNOC and co-curator of THNOC's exhibition, "Storyville: Madams and Music," which revives the sights and sounds of the red-light district. Arceneaux is also the author of "Guidebooks to Sin: The Blue Books of Storyville, New Orleans," published earlier this year by THNOC.
The dinner will take place at Tableau, 616 St. Peter St., and is the first event in an ongoing effort with THNOC. Early-bird admission is available for $85 through Sept. 20; regular admission is $100. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling Tableau at (504) 934-3463, and include all food and drink plus tax and gratuities.
