Longue Vue Gardens and Museum Shop Open

New Orleans, LA – Longue Vue House & Gardens is proud to announce that its gardens and museum shop are open to the public. The house is scheduled to open for tours in mid-March. The Museum Shop is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Gardens are open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“To recover from significant damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, the Longue Vue Board and staff have worked endlessly to mitigate any further damage in the house and bring the garden to a place where we feel comfortable opening our gates and welcoming the public. It has been an incredible demonstration of commitment, fortitude and long-term vision,” says Peggy Laborde, Longue Vue board president.

Longue Vue’s efforts to restore the gardens have been aided by various individuals and staff from gardens and arboreta throughout the country who have volunteered their time and skills.

“The Museum and Horticulture industry has provided tremendous resources to our community. Without their support, Longue Vue would not be in a position to reopen its site so quickly after Hurricane Katrina,” says Bonnie Goldblum, executive director.

Longue Vue is an internationally recognized house museum and garden destination, which has provided unique cultural and educational resources to the greater New Orleans community for

25 years. It is a National Historic Landmark, recently designated in April 2005, accredited by the American Association of Museums in 1986 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

As Longue Vue re-opens its doors, it is offering Louisiana residents special admission discounts in the weeks ahead. Admission is always free for all military and relief workers with proper I.D. No admission is charged when visiting the Museum Shop.

Longue Vue is located at 7 Bamboo Road between Palmetto Street and Metairie Road. For information, call 488-5488 or visit our website at www.longuevue.com.
