DETAILS: Nearly 30,000 medical professionals will gather in New Orleans, Saturday, April 2-Tuesday, April 5 at the MCCNO for the world-class cardiovascular meeting of the year. ACC’s 60th Annual

Scientific Session and i2 Summit, the first citywide convention of 2011, will feature the latest advances in high-quality cardiovascular care, 300 exhibitors showcasing the latest products, educational experiences,

The CardioSmart Health Fair will take place on Saturday, April 2, at Kingsley House, offering underserved New Orleans residents a chance to personally meet cardiologists and gain valuable information about healthy lifestyle choices through free cardiovascular, body mass index (BMI), cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. Educational sessions will also be presented at the fair with topics such as weight loss management, fitness/exercise, nutrition, blood pressure management and medication education. The main goal of the fair is to offer free medical information for the underserved populations in the city. Dr. Karen DeSalvo, City of New Orleans Health Commissioner, will speak at the fair.

The ACC is transforming cardiovascular care and improving heart health through continuous quality improvement, patient-centered care, payment innovation and professionalism. The College is a 39,000-member nonprofit medical society comprised of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists and practice managers, and bestows credentials upon cardiovascular specialists who meet its stringent qualifications. The ACC is a trusted source of up-to-date clinical cardiovascular and health policy information and provides professional education and operates national registries for the measurement and improvement of quality care.

The last ACC meeting in New Orleans was in 2007, and this year’s meeting is set to generate $35 million in economic impact.
