Hotel Monteleone Kicks Off Earth Day with Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne
Announces New Environmental Organization, Unveils Louisiana Ecological Quilt

WHAT: The Hotel Monteleone will kick off Earth Day with Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne by announcing a new foundation to assist in environmental disasters and unveiling an ecological quilt, Beyond the Horizon, commissioned by civic activist and wife of Marion Edwards, Penny Edwards. The event will include a presentation and exhibition of various environmental organizations making efforts to care for and preserve the environment. The exhibitions are free and open to the public starting at 11:00am.

WHY: The anniversary on April 20 of the Deep Water Horizon disaster reminds people of how fragile the environment is and how vital it is to the economy and culture of South Louisiana. In a collaborative effort with the Hotel Monteleone and Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne, environmental activist Penny Edwards brings together a variety of organizations and individuals who are committed to the care and concern of the environment. Through these exhibits, guests will learn how they can make a difference in protecting and preserving the environment.

This collaborative Earth Day event kicks off the historic hotel’s environmental initiatives and Earth Day Network’s A Billion Acts of Green campaign.
