Young Leadership Council Announces Partnership with New Orleans Jazz Institute
Press Announcement to take place at YLC Wednesday at the Square

WHAT: The Young Leadership Council will hold a press conference just before its YLC Wednesday at the Square concert this Wednesday to announce a partnership with Irvin Mayfield’s New Orleans Jazz Institute.

The concert will immediately follow at 5 pm. This is the fifth week of YLC Wednesday at the Square with a performance by Irvin Mayfield & the Jazz Playhouse Revue.

WHO: Young Leadership Council (YLC), Irvin Mayfield

WHEN: Wednesday, April 27
Press Conference: 4:30 pm
Concert: 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Lafayette Square

Between Camp St. and St. Charles Ave. in the Central Business District

WHY: A proponent of linking Jazz with academia, Irvin Mayfield established the New Orleans Jazz Institute (NOJI) at the University of New Orleans in 2008. The Press Conference will reveal how the Young Leadership Council and Mayfield will work together to fortify jazz through education.

The Young Leadership Council is a non-profit, non-partisan civic organization created to develop leadership through community projects. Through volunteer-created community projects, the YLC recruits and retains young professionals to New Orleans, creating a positive impact on the quality of life in the region. The oldest, independent YPO (young professionals' organization) in the country, the YLC has raised more than $25 million to support community projects in and around the New Orleans area since 1986. The YLC is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2011.
