Governor Jindal Announces the Appointment of J. Stephen Perry to the LSU Board of Supervisors
BATON ROUGE (July 25, 2011)- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of J. Stephen Perry to the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors.
The goal of the Louisiana State University (LSU) Board of Supervisors is to provide leadership and support for the LSU System. The board aids the LSU System in the development of intellectual and professional programs of instruction, research, and public service, works to increase opportunities for students, provides oversight for large contracts, and enhances services to the community and the state.
The board is composed of fifteen gubernatorial appointments which are subject to senate confirmation and one student member who serves a one year term. Members include: two members appointed from each congressional district and one member appointed from the state at-large serving six year terms.
J. Stephen Perry, of New Orleans, is the President/CEO of New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. Perry formerly served as Louisiana Governor Mike Foster’s Chief of Staff. He holds B.A. degrees in History from LSU, with time at Moscow State University in the Soviet Union, an M.A. in Anthropology from LSU, and he completed the Senior Executives Program in State and Local Government offered by the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Perry also currently serves on many national boards including Destination Marketing Association International, Travel Industry Association, and the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board to the United States Secretary of Commerce. Perry will be appointed to serve as a representative of the 2nd Congressional District, as required by statute.
