SECOND ANNUAL ICE CREAM SOCIAL EVENTS
Luxury Hotel Brand Offers Guests Sweet Treats to Beat the Heat
New Orleans, LA – This summer, Omni Hotels & Resorts is once again treating travelers across the brand to summertime soirées celebrating National Ice Cream Day. Guests visiting Omni properties, including the Omni Royal Orleans located at 621 St. Louis St., are invited to a complimentary ice cream social - complete with a Design-Your-Own Sundae Bar, on Tuesday, July 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. Through a partnership with Häagen-Dazs, the luxury hotel brand will serve rich, vanilla and chocolate flavored ice cream along with toppings such as brownie chunks, crumbled chocolate chip cookies, Butterfingers, Heath Bars, M&Ms, butterscotch, strawberry, caramel and chocolate fudge sauces, pecans, chocolate chips and cherries, as well as toppings cherished by locals. At the Omni Hotel in New Orleans, Chef Rene Bajeux will add a unique local twist with the addition of praline, spicy pecans and king cake toppings.
In 1984, then President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. Believing ice cream was both fun and nutritional, Reagan declared these two events should be observed with "appropriate ceremonies and activities.”
