The Roosevelt New Orleans Pays Tribute to Its Past with Re-creation of
“Stormin’ of the Sazerac”
Ladies Lunch, Drink Specials and Hat Modeling Tops off Celebration

NEW ORLEANS, La. – (August 23, 2011) – The Roosevelt New Orleans will pay tribute to its remarkable and colorful past through the re-creation of the historic “Stormin’ of the Sazerac,” Friday, September 23, at 3 p.m. inside the hotel’s legendary Sazerac Bar.

The event commemorates the 62nd anniversary of the first occasion when women, normally admitted only on Mardi Gras, began to receive equal status year-round with men at the world-famous bar and could join their male counterparts anytime for the Sazerac cocktail made popular by the bar, the Ramos Gin Fizz that was the favorite of Gov. Huey P. Long, and other concoctions.

To properly honor the original “Stormin’,” which took place in 1949, guests are encouraged to wear late-1940s attire and partake in a “vintage glamour” costume contest. The winner will receive a one-night stay at The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria hotel. The event also will include hourly drawings for special giveaways including the Miss Sazerac cocktail and Sazerac ties for men, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Also featured will be an informal hat modeling by staff from The Roosevelt Emporium Gift Shop, lip makeovers by the Guerlain Spa, Sazerac t-shirts by Fleurty Girl, and displays by Les Dames Chapeaux and RetroActive. Beginning at 4 p.m., the Sazerac Bar will offer discounted Sazerac cocktails just for men.

Prior to the event, however, women will get a special treat, as the Sazerac Restaurant offers a three-course, ladies-only lunch beginning at 1 p.m. for just $25, inclusive of tax and gratuity. The menu includes:

Table d’Hôte

Watercress and Beet Salad
