The Grill Room Launches 2011-2012 Wine Class Series
Grill Room Sommelier Sara Kavanaugh to provide fun, unique tour of wine world for guests
NEW ORLEANS, LA. - This fall and spring, New Orleans residents and Windsor Court guests will have an opportunity to become true wine connoisseurs with a little help from The Grill Room's highly regarded Sommelier, Sara Kavanaugh. On Wednesday, October 5 at 6 pm, The Grill Room will launch its new Wine Class Series with a focus on "Old World Wine vs. New World Wine."
Kavanaugh will guide guests as they taste Old and New World wine side by side to gain an understanding of what makes them different. She will show them how different soil types, production methods and climates affect the final product. Eight different wines from all over the globe will be tasted, including four reds and four whites.
The Wine Class Series will kick off in October and conclude in May 2012. Classes will teach attendees how to blind taste, how to pair wines with food, and to understand and appreciate aroma. Classes will be held at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, beginning in October and continuing through May. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 504-522-1994. The cost of each class is $25 and, if guests dine in the restaurant on the same evening as a class they attend, they will receive a complementary sommelier-selected bottle of wine with the purchase of any two entrees.
A full schedule for the 2011-2012 Wine Class Series can be found here on the Grill Room website (http://www.grillroomneworleans.com/).
The Windsor Court began mixology classes in Spring 2010 and continued them into mid-2011, to high regard and attendance. Wine-focused special editions of the mixology class ended up being some of the most popular and well-attended sessions, so now the focus has shifted to wine. Mixology classes will return in the near future.
