NOLA GOES PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NOLA GOES PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness
New Orleans' First Month Long, Citywide Top Chef Event to Benefit Breast Cancer Awareness

NEW ORLEANS, September 22, 2011 - New Orleans' top chefs will wear pink chef's coats and prepare healthy menu options throughout the entire month of October as NOLA Goes Pink in support of breast cancer awareness and research!

Thirty-one (31) of New Orleans' top chefs and restaurateurs will offer a $31 prix fixe dinner or entrée for thirty-one (31) days with ten percent (10%) of each sale allocated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, New Orleans affiliate.  In a city renowned for its sauces and spices, the menus will feature clean, pro-health, nutrient-dense, plant-based and lean in animal fat offerings.

"This is a most generous gesture by our chefs and restaurateurs across the culinary community, and one that celebrates the best of New Orleans - our delicious cuisine - for a most worthy and important cause," said Cheryl Landrieu, the wife of Mayor Mitch Landrieu, and co-chair of NOLA Goes Pink. "It is also important to note that this month-long promotion will shine a light on healthy dining options while raising awareness about breast cancer, two vital approaches in fighting a disease that has touched so many people in all of lives.  We're proud that New Orleans is the first city to make this happen and hope that other cities follow our lead."

This is the first-ever citywide, month-long promotion in support of breast cancer awareness.  This is the first time that New Orleans chefs will prepare healthy dining options that help to fight carcinogens.  But, this is not the first time that the top chefs of New Orleans have rallied for a cause  as they illustrated post-hurricane and oil spill.  Join us as NOLA Goes Pink for breast cancer awareness!
