Join the fiesta at Audubon Zoo in New Orleans Saturday, October 15, 2011!

Celebración Latina at Audubon Zoo's Capital One Stage and Field offers a true taste of Latin American culture with live music, children's activities and authentic Latin cuisine prepared and sold by local restaurants. Local artisans sell hand made crafts, and local social service, health and education organizations offer wellness, education and social service information. The event is presented by Stone Center for Latin American Studies at Tulane University.

BP America, Incorporated, Pan-American Life Insurance Group, Jefferson Financial Credit Union and Wellcare are all sponsors for this exciting celebration! Wellness and community partners include Hispanic Apostalate, Latin American Civic Association of Louisiana,Office of Public Health, New Orleans Public Library Project Green and Habitat for Humanity.

West Jefferson Hospital will offer free blood pressure screening and other wellness information.

Irresistable treats from Brazilian Market and Cafe, Felipes Taqueria and Celina's Supermarket put the accent on deliciousness. Special Latina-themed arts and crafts keep the kids entertained.

While enjoying the fiesta, Zoo visitors may want to stroll to Jaguar Jungle, Audubon Zoo's Central America exhibit. Beautiful jaguars, spider monkeys, macaws and other iconic animals of the region are displayed in a breathtaking setting dotted with reproductions of ancient structures from Copan and Chichan Itza.   

Festival activities are included in regular admission to Audubon Zoo, which is $14.95 for adults, $9.95 for children 2-12, and $11.95 for seniors 65+.
