Rebuilding Together National Conference Convenes in New Orleans November 10-12
Rebuilding Together Celebrates 1,000th Home Completed in New Orleans

WHAT: Rebuilding Together National Conference

WHERE: The Marriott Convention Center: 859 Convention Center Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70130

WHEN: November 10-12, 2011

DETAILS: Exhibitors, sponsors and volunteers will convene at the New Orleans Marriott Convention Center November 10-12 for the Rebuilding Together National Conference. With a focus on rebuilding and restoring homes for low-income homeowners, the conference is filled with workshops and trainings, networking opportunities and other related events, and acts as a forum for the non-profit's affiliate network.

At this year's conference, Rebuilding Together will celebrate an important milestone: the completion of the 1,000th house built in the Gulf region in response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Receiving $6 million in donated funds gave Rebuilding Together the leverage to deliver nearly $30 million in market value to the region. The program continues to ensure the stability of affordable homeownership throughout the rebuilding process, while strengthening the capacity of local Rebuilding Together affiliates and communities. The 1000th home is a "shotgun" style house in Hollygrove belonging to Lloyd Columbus, a resident of this neighborhood for more than 46 years.

Throughout the three-day conference, breakout sessions will be held, discussing how to develop action plans to improve neighborhoods. Also, Sean Vissar, the developer of Rebuilding Together New Orleans (RTNO)'s Deconstruction and Salvage Program, will discuss how the program acts as both an earned income strategy and material provider, supporting the entire organization's operations. Lt. General Russel Honoré, Commander of Joint Task Force-Katrina and Global Preparedness Expert, will be the keynote speaker for the convention.
