2012 Starlight Music Lineup Announced
Local Faves The Boogie Men, Bucktown All-Stars, Rockin' Dopsie Top Six Nights of Music

NEW ORLEANS (Thursday, December 29, 2011) - The Boogie Men, Bucktown All-Stars and Rockin' Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters are among the headliners slated for six nights of live music in the Clubhouse during the 2012 Starlight Racing series at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. The Boogiemen, known as New Orleans' premier horn-powered dance band, kick off the schedule January 6.

Other headliners include The Topcats (Feb. 10), The Mixed Nuts (Feb. 24) and Groovy 7 (March 30). Starlight Racing also features a full schedule of party DJs in the trackside Miller Lite Beer Garden.

Here's the full 2012 Starlight Racing music schedule:

January 6 - The Boogie Men and DJ Jive

January 20 - Bucktown All-Stars and DJ Kemistry

February 10 - The Topcats and DJ Spin

February 24 - The Mixed Nuts and DJ Digital

March 16 - Rockin' Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters and DJ Jive

March 30 - Groovy 7 and DJ Kemistry

First post (the first race of the night) for all Starlight Racing dates is 5 p.m. The live bands take to the Clubhouse stage at 7 p.m., while the DJs in the Miller Lite Beer Garden spin nonstop until after the last race, about 9 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Starlight Racing, an upscale nightlife experience with live music, DJs, drink specials and live Thoroughbred racing under the lights, was expanded to six dates for the first time this season due to an overwhelming response during the 2010-2011 meet.

Starlight Racing offers two distinct experiences - a chic club atmosphere in the Miller Lite Beer Garden and a more sophisticated vibe in the Clubhouse. Other features of Starlight Racing include specialty cuisine from local food trucks and the ever-popular Starlight Dancers in their custom-made jockey outfits.

Theme Nights
For 2012, every Starlight Racing event will have its own theme, reflected in the décor of the Miller Lite Beer Garden. Guests are encouraged to get in the spirit and dress accordingly. "Dress to Impress" is the theme for the first night, January 6. The rest of the themes are: 1970s Disco (Jan. 20), Mardi Gras (Feb. 10), Hollywood Glamour (Feb. 24), St. Patrick's Day (March 16) and College Sports (March 30).

Admission and Parking
General Admission to Fair Grounds for Starlight Racing is $5. Twin Spires Club VIPs (or, after Feb. 1, TSCElite members) receive free General Admission.

Bucktown All-Stars (Jan. 20)
The New Orleans-based Bucktown All-Stars are 1960s classic R&B and soul, 1970s funk and New Orleans music mixed with laughs and a good time. Raspy vocals, rollicking piano and a corrupt horn section fuel an unorthodox mix of second line funk and Motown soul, the ingredients that have entertained thousands of hip-shaking fans across Louisiana for the last 18 years. DJ Kemistry (Jan. 20 and March 30)
Hailing from the Big Easy, DJ Kemistry has quickly become infamous for his high-energy party-rocking style of mixing.
