Signature DMC Awarded Best Fundraiser at International Awards Program
Liuzza Palooza won the Best Fundraiser Category

New Orleans, LA - Signature Destination Management was nominated by the Special Events Committee of Special Events Magazine for a Gala Award in the category of Best Fundraiser for their production and management of Liuzza Palooza!

At the Special Event in Tampa, Florida January 27th, Signature DMC was awarded the top prize in the Best Fundraiser category.  The Gala Awards have been given by Special Events Magazine, the premier industry publication, since 1986, when the awards honored the "top 10 events of 1985." They recognize the finest work in special events worldwide.

For the 2011 Gala Awards, the magazine received nearly 340 entries in 35 categories from Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Russia, Spain and the United States of America.

Members of the Special Events Magazine Advisory Board, made up of leaders in the event profession, spent two days in October at the magazine's offices in Pacific Palisades (Los Angeles), California, to select the finalists. Nominated entries went through three rounds of judging.


Liuzza Palooza was a fundraiser for the popular owner of a wonderful New Orleans neighborhood restaurant called Liuzza's.  The owner, Michael Bordelon, was struck by a multiple-offense drunk driver in February 2011 while heading home from work. Some of his relatives who happen to be in the hospitality industry came up with the idea of having a festival as a means to raise funds to offset medical costs and hired Signature to produce the event. Hence, Liuzza Palooza was born!  This idea was hatched in late March and fulfilled in mid May.  The community came together in such a generous way that the net earnings of the festival exceeded $130,000!!  Just in 6 hours in one day only!!

Signature DMC was founded in 1990 and has always strived to achieve the highest standards in event creation and execution, while keeping their clients' budgets and objectives in mind.  They have a long list of repeat clients who have come to rely on their creativity and follow though on the production of their events and programs.  When contracting with Signature a client can rest assured that their event will be handled flawlessly regardless of the complexity or simplicity.
