Mercedes-Benz Superdome Begins Transformation for the 2012 Final Four
With the 2012 Men''s Basketball Final Four set to begin in New Orleans Saturday, March 31, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the host facility for this year''s event, has begun its transformation process and the New Orleans Local Organizing Committee invites members of the media to the Superdome on Tuesday, March 13 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. for a walk-through and interview session.
Vince Granito, Co-Director of the New Orleans Local Organizing Committee, will be available for interview opportunities for Final Four preparation and fan events.
Randy Philipson, the Director of Engineering and Operations for SMG/Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be available for interviews regarding the ongoing changes to the Superdome for this event, this including the construction of the center scoreboard/video board that will hang over the court, the installation of the lower seating bowl and the clearing out of the warehouses.
All media representatives are asked to buzz in at Garage 5 and proceed to the SMG offices at Gate F off the Exterior Plaza Level. All media must sign in at the front desk.
The national semifinals and national championship games are sold out but the community can still participate in several free events for fans: the public can watch the teams practice at the Dome on Final Four Friday®® and kids 18 and under can get a free basketball to dribble down Poydras Street on Sunday.?
