The 59th Annual Congress of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Convenes in New Orleans March 24-29

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 22, 2012

The 59th Annual Congress of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Convenes
in New Orleans March 24-29

Featuring more than 100 education sessions, networking and career-building opportunities

WHAT: Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Annual Congress

WHERE: New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (MCCNO), Halls B-E

WHEN: Saturday March 24-Thursday March 29, 2012

DETAILS: More than 10,000 nurses and professionals in the perioperative profession are expected to attend the AORN annual Congress, which combines more than 100 education sessions with networking and career-building opportunities. Speakers include Don Berwick, MD, the United States' leading advocate for high-quality health care, former administrator for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and founding CEO for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).

The association's concurrent trade show is the largest surgical products trade show in the United States. Surgical products are presented by more than 500 exhibitors and include instruments and devices for the attending nurses' use in the operating room.

AORN represents the interests of more than 160,000 perioperative nurses by providing nursing education, standards and practice resources-including the peer-reviewed, monthly publication AORN Journal-to enable optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures. AORN's 41,000 registered nurse members manage, teach and practice perioperative nursing, are enrolled in nursing education or are engaged in perioperative research.

The last time AORN met in New Orleans was in 2005, with plans to return in 2018, 2022 and 2026.
