Upcoming 2012 Events at the New Orleans Museum of Art
February 24- May 20, 2012, Hard Truths: The Art of Thornton Dial Hard Truths: The Art of Thornton Dial highlights the artist's significant contribution to the field of American art and shows how Dial's work speaks to the most pressing issues of our time-including the war in Iraq, 9/11, and social issues like racism and homelessness. The exhibition presents over 40 of Dial's large-scale paintings, drawings and found-object sculptures, including new works. Spanning twenty years of his work as an artist, it is the most extensive showing of his art ever mounted and is organized by the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

March 23- September 16, 2012, Dario Robleto: The Prelives of the Blues This spring NOMA is pleased to present a solo exhibition of work by conceptual artist Dario Robleto, featuring sculpture and works on paper from the past ten years. Dario Robleto: The Prelives of The Blues centers on the historical and emotional resonance of music, focusing on how music is absorbed and transferred across generations transcending barriers of race, time, and death.

Leah Chase: Portraits by Gustave Blache III
New Orleans-raised artist Gustave Blache III celebrates New Orleans chef and cultural icon Leah Chase with this exhibition of paintings depicting the kitchen of Dooky Chase's. Presented in the Louisiana Galleries, this exhibition celebrates Leah's 90th year. An opening party will inaugurate the Leah Chase Art Purchase Fund on April 23, 2012.

Ralston Crawford and Jazz NOMA presents Ralston Crawford and Jazz, an exhibition that considers the relationships between music, photography, painting, drawing and film as they intersect in Crawford's work in New Orleans. Organized by the Sheldon Art Galleries, in Saint Louis, MO, the exhibition includes 148 photographs, prints, paintings, drawings and films, many never before published.
