Butterfly Garden Celebrates New Animals and More Butterflies

Audubon Butterfly Garden goes through a metamorphosis!
Members now enjoy free admission to Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium!
Exhibit Opens Friday, April 27, 2012

(New Orleans, La.)- There is a metamorphosis underway at the popular Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation Butterflies in Flight exhibit at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium.

The exhibit is changing, but will be out of its chrysalis soon. Emerging on Friday, April 27 2012, the Butterflies in Flight exhibit will have hundreds of fluttering butterflies, new animals, lighting, flooring, plants and other enhancements. Also, Audubon Nature Institute members will enjoy this transformation with unlimited free admission to Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium. Click here for more details regarding this newly added membership benefit.

The serene, Asian-inspired garden where hundreds of butterflies fly freely will also feature the addition of a large decorative birdcage near the main entrance of the exhibit containing colorful Gouldian Finches, enhanced lighting, and added planters filled with an array of fragrant nectar plants.

Prior to entering Butterflies in Flight, guests are encouraged to visit the Metamorphosis Gallery at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium where they may observe butterflies emerging from chrysalises, learn how to help insects and their habitats, and ask questions about butterflies' courtship, mating and life cycles.

Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium
Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium prices are $16.00 for adults, $13.00 for seniors and $11.00 for children and free for Audubon Nature Institute members. Advanced tickets are recommended and can be purchased by visiting AudubonInstitute.org or at any Audubon Nature Institute attraction. Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium is located at 423 Canal Street in downtown New Orleans in the U.S. Custom House and is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday through Sunday. ###
