NOLA Goes Pink chefs present final check to Susan G. Komen
New Orleans, La. - This Friday at 1:00 p.m., NOLA Goes Pink
chefs and restaurateurs will present a final check for their
efforts to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research to Susan G.
Komen New Orleans during their annual Salute to Survivors luncheon. Join us
this Friday as the chefs and restaurateurs reveal the final tally, which
exceeded their goal, on behalf of the culinary community of New Orleans!
NOLA Goes Pink was the first city-wide, month-long,
chef-driven event to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. Chefs from
thirty-six (36) restaurants across the metropolitan area donned pink chefs coats
and created healthy menus for the entire month of October (2011) with ten (10)
percent of the proceeds of each sale being allocated to Susan G. Komen New
Orleans. Ritz-Carlton Executive Chef Vinny Russo appeared on the Today Show in
October of 2011 with Hoda Kotb to promote the citywide event and show the world
that the New Orleans' culinary community cares!
The luncheon's keynote speaker is NBC's Hoda Kotb and the
master of ceremonies is WWL-TV's Karen Swensen. Information on the Salute to
Survivors luncheon can be found at this link: http://komenneworleans.org/. On Friday,
NOLA Goes Pink and Susan G. Komen New Orleans will announce their plans for the
second annual event to be held in October of 2012.
