WHAT: To host FORESTIVAL 2012, a celebration of art and nature
WHERE: A Studio In The Woods, 13401 Patterson Road New Orleans, LA 70131
WHEN: Saturday, May 12, 2012, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
WHY: For the third year in a row, A Studio In The Woods, will host FORESTIVAL - a celebration of art and nature. The festival showcases former artist/residents' work as well as the history and happenings of this unique environment.
FORESTIVAL is open to the public and offers families a chance to experience Louisiana's Wetlands set to live music, food, artistic demonstrations and more.
The event is free, food and drinks are available for purchase and a $5 donation is suggested.

FORESTIVAL's programming is courtesy of former A Studio In The Woods residents, including:
- Nina Nichols to debut "Vanities of the Poor," an operetta based on a Grimm's fairy tale and set on the banks of the Mississippi
- Writers Mollie Day and Benjamin Morris - to read poetry.
- Jane Hill, Kids in the Woods summer camp instructor and ceramicist to lead hands-on project with clay
- Rebecca Snedeker to present work in progress from Unfathomable City: A New Orleans Atlas (set to be published in 2013 by University of California Press)
This year's musical acts include:
- Meschiya Lake
- Bamboula 2000, Drummer & Dancers
- Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras, Music Director Dr. Jean Montès
- Mark Growden

About A Studio in The Woods:
A Studio in the Woods, a program of Tulane University located in 7.66 forested acres on the Mississippi River in New Orleans, is dedicated to preserving the endangered bottomland hardwood forest and providing within it a peaceful retreat where visual, literary and performing artists can work uninterrupted. Programming includes community workshops in the arts and environmental preservation, and an outdoor classroom where students of all ages can experience and study the natural world. One of a few live-in artists' retreats in the Deep South, A Studio in the Woods fosters both environmental preservation and the creative work of all artists.
