2012 French
Quarter Festival Musician Sponsorship Program is a Success
Satchmo SummerFest
Musician Sponsorship Program Offers Additional Support
NEW ORLEANS, LA (June
11, 2012) - French Quarter Festivals, Inc. is proud to announce that
the new 2012 French Quarter Festival Musician Sponsorship Program was a great
success. Thanks to the generous support and donations of festival fans, New
Orleans businesses, and local restaurants, the Musician Sponsorship Program
exceeded its original goal and raised over $100,000 in funding for festival
musicians as well as artist parking all four days of festival. French Quarter
Festivals, Inc. continues the Musician Sponsorship Program for the 2012 Satchmo
SummerFest, August 3-5, 2012.
Musician
Sponsorship
FQFI is
currently seeking musician sponsors for the 12th annual Satchmo SummerFest, the
premier American Jazz Festival dedicated to the life, legacy, and music of Louis
"Satchmo" Armstrong. Musician
Sponsorship allows fans, businesses, and restaurants to support this beloved
music festival. Sponsorship levels begin at $750 (Struttin' with Some Barbecue
sponsor) or as much as $20,000 at the "Pops" Level. All donations will help
support Satchmo SummerFest musicians. Sponsorships of all sizes are welcomed and
will be acknowledged.
All
events produced by French Quarter Festivals, Inc. are FREE and open to the
public. FQFI strives to keep Satchmo SummerFest a high quality event
that celebrates Louis Armstrong and the best of New Orleans culture. The
organization is committed to keeping the event accessible to everyone and
contributing to the economic well-being of the French Quarter, the City of New
Orleans, and the State of Louisiana.
The
musician sponsorship program facilitates the relationship between artists and
sponsors and eliminates the musician's responsibility in securing a sponsor,
freeing them to focus on their performance. Because French Quarter Festivals,
Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, sponsorships are tax deductible -
another great benefit for supporters.
With the
launch of this program, businesses are once again invited to truly participate
in this annual community celebration, making a major impact, and enjoying the
benefits of sponsorship. Satchmo SummerFest is not just a fun, high quality
event. The festival annually generates over $4 million in economic impact with
over $300,000 in direct tax revenue going to the city and the state as a direct
result of the festival. Satchmo SummerFest also attracts over 26,000 people to
the French Quarter each year.
Satchmo
SummerFest
Satchmo
SummerFest began in 2001 to celebrate the centennial birthday of Louis
Armstrong. Taking place near his birthday, August 4th, Satchmo Summerfest offers
three days of fascinating seminars about the history and influence of jazz music
in New Orleans and discussions about the life and talent of Louis Armstrong, two
days of music from some of New Orleans' finest traditional jazz and brass bands,
and authentic local cuisine from the area's finest restaurants that create "Red
Bean Alley."
Satchmo
SummerFest also hosts a variety of special events and activities including:
Sunday morning Jazz Mass at the historic St. Augustine Church in Treme; a
traditional second line parade; traditional jazz dance lessons; a children's
activity area; and a Trumpet Tribute to close the festival.
