WHAT:           Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW) International Convention

WHERE:        New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (MCCNO)

WHEN:          Sunday, August 5-Saturday, August 11, 2012

DETAILS:   The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW) International Convention will convene in New Orleans, August 5-11, 2012. More than 6,000 attendees will come together to partake in community outreach, maintain unity and practice discipleship.

This year's convention, themed "Endeavoring to Keep Unity," is hosting an international clothing drive called "Cover New Orleans," to benefit more than 1,000 New Orleans residents. In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity and the Pentecostal Churches of Apostolic Faith (PCAF), convening in New Orleans Aug. 3-8, 2012, the PAW will also fund and assist in building a home for a family recovering from Hurricane Katrina. The PAW's efforts will extend to the Fourth Ward, Lower Ninth Ward, Elayn Hunt Correction Center, Third Ward and 17th Ward. See the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOBZ8cE-WIk

The PAW is the second-largest predominately African-American Pentecostal church organization and the fourth-largest Pentecostal church organization in the world. It is also the oldest apostolic Pentecostal organization. The PAW has more than 5,000 churches in 25 countries and more than 1.2 million members in the U.S. Bishop Charles H. Ellis is the presiding Bishop of PAW and the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, a 7,000-member church.

The PAW last convened in New Orleans in 2003, and this year's meeting is estimated to generate $7 million in economic impact.
