"Seersucker and Fizz" Celebration in the Sazerac Bar Precedes Performance

NEW ORLEANS, La. - August 13, 2012 - Two decades after its triumphant off-Broadway premiere, The Kingfish is back, with a special two-night engagement of the one-man play depicting the life and times of famed Louisiana Gov. Huey P. Long at the location he called home in New Orleans - The Roosevelt New Orleans, Aug. 30 - 31, 2012.

Doors open for the performance nightly at 6:30 p.m. in the world-famous Blue Room. Featuring actor John "Spud" McConnell, the performance also will celebrate Long's 119th birthday. McConnell has received national acclaim for his on-stage portrayals of Louisiana's most colorful characters, including Long (The Kingfish), brother Earl K. Long (Earl Long in Purgatory) and Ignatius J. Riley (A Confederacy of Dunces). His career also has taken him to Hollywood for three seasons on ABC's hit television show Roseanne. In addition, he can be heard weekdays on The Spud Show on WWL 870 AM.

General admission for the show is $65 per person, and VIP preferred seating is available for $80 per person, exclusive of tax. For reservations, call The Roosevelt at +1 (504) 335-3138. Leading in to the performance that same day, the Sazerac Bar at The Roosevelt will celebrate Long's birthday with "Seersucker and Fizz" starting at 4 p.m. and featuring two of his favorite things: Ramos Gin Fizz cocktails and seersucker.The celebration will include the Ramos Gin Fizz cocktail priced at just $8.30, normally $13, in honor of Long's birthday Aug. 30, along with some specially flavored fizzes. Guests are encouraged to dress in seersucker.
