At Home in The Big Easy
Through November 30, rates at The Blake start at $99 per night. Housed in the elegant former Bank of New Orleans building, the 11-story hotel has just completed a 10-month renovation that has transformed nearly every aspect of the property. The Blake now houses a full-service restaurant and bar, two meeting rooms with a balcony, a lobby business center, fitness center and sundries shop.
The hotel lobby features a sleek and luxurious design. Refurbished floor-to-ceiling windows wrap around the entire building, making the lobby the perfect vantage point from which to watch the ongoing parade of New Orleans personalities passing through the neighborhood. Lobby floors and walls are paved in cream-colored travertine, with punches of color from a 12-by-9-foot, strawberry-red faux alligator skin behind the front desk. Guests gather in the lobby on plush chairs and a bold red semi-circular sofa. There's bar service here as well as three computer workstations, free Wi-Fi and a large TV for guests who want to stay connected.
Just off the lobby, the full-service Café at the Square serves up rich city views and traditional Louisiana comfort food. Try the Andouille sausage benedict and fried green tomatoes topped off with homemade bread pudding with bourbon sauce.
Almost every guestroom features floor-to-ceiling windows too, affording beautiful views of the storied city. Rooms invite relaxation with warm Manhattan Cherry Finish furnishings and a soothing neutral color palette of taupes, creams and browns with pops of color from green and orange pillows and throws and rich golden-tone drapes.
