What it means:  Anba Dlo (Pronounced "Ahnbah Dlo") is Haitian Kreyol for "Beneath the Waters" and is meant to acknowledge and honor the importance of water to our life.

What it is:  Now in its 5th year, Anba Dlo V is unique as a one-of-a-kind, costumed, interactive community festival that also celebrates the multicultural and artistic heritage of New Orleans.  It is a wonderful kick-off event to the upcoming Halloween celebrations across New Orleans.

What there is to hear and see:  13 bands, four live music stages, and a DJ dance area will be set up throughout 3 floors of The New Orleans Healing Center. This year's festival will boast performers such as Papa Mali, 101 Runners, Sean Johnson, John Mooney, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, special guest George Porter, Jr. plus other non-stop, interactive and entertainment offerings throughout the building!

-Costume parade (open to the public) led by The Radical Faeries and 3 women's marching clubs
-Multimedia interactive water-awareness installations
-A silent auction
-An arts market will feature many items for sale created by local artisans
-A drum circle and Vodou invocation of the mermaid spirit of the deep waters
-Psychic readers will be present for those who wish to see into the future
-A midnight unveiling of a multi-media water sculpture
-Mardi Gras Indians
-Dancers and acrobats
-Costume contest with prizes
-Food and drinks will be sold

What there is to learn:  Our sub-theme this year is "Infinite Blessings, Finite Resource."  We are hosting daytime seminars, panels, and discussion groups to help educate attendees about our alarmingly pervasive but little-thought-of dependency on water and the urgency of our need to protect and conserve it.

Lasiren VIP Lounge will treat guests to a sensory underwater fantasy featuring specialty drinks, light fare by Chef Craig Nero, Adolpho's and Dominico and live music  Mermaids and Mermen will be on hand for guests to sample massage therapy offered by The Affordable Healing Arts.

We are proud to announce Pabst Blue Ribbon's sponsorship of Anba Dlo!  Support comes from the 25 businesses and organizations of The New Orleans Healing Center.

Portions of the proceeds benefit The New Orleans Community Outreach, a non-profit organization, who voucher program provides financially vulnerable residents with access to many of the helping/healing programs and services offered by the New Orleans Healing Center and its affiliates.

Anba Dlo V: A total interactive sensory experience: audio, visual, and epicurean.  Support the local community, the planet and have fun doing it!
