Annual Art Show Benefits Senior Care at Poydras Home

Thousands of Original Creations for Sale

An elegant setting, inspirational artwork and the opportunity to support a compassionate New Orleans icon  - it's the 18th Annual Poydras Home Art Show, November 3 and 4, 2012, on the beautiful grounds of Poydras Home, 5354 Magazine Street, New Orleans.

Acclaimed local and regional artists bring unique creations to Poydras Home for two days, with a portion of sales benefiting the non-profit Poydras Home. A patron party on Friday, November 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., gives patrons an advance look at works submitted for the juried competition, where the best pieces are displayed for judging by former New Orleans Museum of Art Director John Bullard.

"So many in our community recognize and appreciate the gracious compassion that is the hallmark of care at Poydras Home," said Jane Mize, co-chair of the event along with Dolores Hall. "We like to hear how our art show patrons throughout the years have purchased art they love, all while helping advance the mission of Poydras Home. We're grateful to everyone who attends the art show, and we very much appreciate our talented artists who donate a portion of their sales to us."

Serious collectors and casual enthusiasts will all find something to enjoy as artwork fills Poydras Home, both outside on the beautiful grounds and within the historic building.  This year's show features 2,500 works of art - all original - by local and regional artists. Offerings include traditional and contemporary paintings, photography, sculpture, metalwork, pottery, jewelry and fine crafts. Featured artists include glassblower Andrew Pollack, potter JoAnn Greenberg, painter Larry Nevil and many others, including Thomas Burger, Patti Adams and last year's winner of the juried competition, Bruce Davenport, Jr.

Admission to the Art Show is free and open to the public, Saturday, November 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 4, from noon to 4 p.m.

Tickets for the Patron Party on Friday, November 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. are $100, and include entertainment and fabulous food in the unique setting of Poydras Home's historic building. Tickets may be purchased by calling (504) 897-0535 or by visiting www.poydrashome.com.
