Destrehan Plantation 13034 River Road Destrehan, LA 70047 United States

Fall brings on many wonderful activities in Louisiana.  The Destrehan Plantation Fall Festival is one of the best.  The award winning event is Saturday and Sunday, November 10 & 11, 2011 on the plantation grounds.  A past winner of Southeast Tourism's Top 20 Events and the Louisiana Fairs and Festival Classics Award, the festival is a popular event for those who love Louisiana foods, crafts and music.

Over 150 artists and craft vendors from throughout the United States will offer a variety of crafts such as pottery, jewelry, wood products, ceramics, dolls, stained glass, fleur de lis items and much more.  Louisiana foods are plentiful at the festival.  Cochon de lait po-boys, Corn and Crab Bisque, Crabcakes, Beef Brisket, Shrimp Po-Boys, Pork & Crawfish Boudin, Roasted Corn and Alligator Sausage are among some of the many offerings during the weekend.  For those wanting a snack between meals, we also have Italian Cookies, Kettle Corn, Beignets, Snoballs, Caramel Apples and Roasted Peanuts.

Visitors looking for that special antique or collectible item will surely find it while visiting the Mule Barn where over 20 vendors will be selling their wares.  Lots of entertainment is on hand, with live musical entertainment throughout the weekend.

Besides music, the festival provides other forms of entertainment for the entire family. Demonstrations of period crafts, including Open Hearth Cooking. Bousillege construction and Indigo Dyeing are featured.    Children's activities are plentiful, with Face Painting, Pony Rides and  Euro-Bungy Jumping.  Tours of the plantation by costumed guides will also be available for an additional fee.

The festival hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.  Admission fee is $7 for adults and teens, and free for ages 12 and under.  All admission fees go to site development of Destrehan Plantation, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.
