New Orleans CVB Partners with "Commissioner of Tailgating" for the Road Home to The Dome
Commissioner of Tailgating Joe Cahn will travel cross-country to promote New Orleans as a premier travel destination for football fans

NEW ORLEANS - October 25, 2012 - The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has partnered with native New Orleanian Joe Cahn, the "Commissioner of Tailgating," to promote New Orleans as a premier travel destination in the months leading up to Super Bowl XLVII. On his Road Home to The Dome, the Commish will travel to 22 states and visit 30 NFL stadiums to extend New Orleans' style hospitality to football fans and tailgaters.

The Road Home to The Dome initiative aims to promote New Orleans as a travel destination for football fans across America. The Commish will advocate New Orleans culture at every tailgate by serving up traditional New Orleans cuisine and tailgating traditions, promoting a leisure vacation during the football season. Football fans will be encouraged to follow the Commish on his journey home. A JoeMobile tracker, photos, recipes and more will be available on his website, www.tailgating.com.

"This partnership is a great opportunity for America to see what New Orleans has to offer to visitors and build on the excitement of the big game coming to New Orleans," said Kelly Schulz, Vice President of Communications and Public Relations at the New Orleans CVB. "Most NFL football fans have never seen a New Orleans style tailgate. After they meet the Commish they can host their own New Orleans style tailgate and hopefully end up as one of the visiting teams in New Orleans in February 2013."

Joe Cahn is the first and only self-proclaimed Commissioner of Tailgating. He sold his home and his business, the New Orleans School of Cooking, in 1996 to purchase a motor home, and can be found tailgating at collegiate and NFL football stadiums, NASCAR tracks and any event involving tailgating. The Commish has traveled to all 31 NFL stadiums, more than 100 collegiate stadiums, nine NASCAR tracks and has attended more than 500 tailgates. Joe has been interviewed and featured more than 300 times by major media outlets nationwide.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to work with the CVB," said Joe Cahn, the Commissioner of Tailgating. "Whenever you visit a different city you represent New Orleans. You are an extension of your city. We need to show football fans in different cities New Orleans' unique community, culture and hospitality."

Note to Editors: Joe Cahn will be available for live interviews in front of his RV, which will be parked near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Monday, November 5, 2012 prior to kick off. To schedule an interview, contact Jennifer Lotz, 504-566-5019, jlotz@neworleanscvb.com.
