Ride New Orleans Hosts Third Annual Transit Week - November 11 - 17
New Orleans, LA - Ride New Orleans is hosting the third annual Transit Week November 11 - 17. Transit Week is a time to celebrate transit and raise awareness about the importance of world class transit to the economic vitality, sustainability and health of New Orleans and the greater region.
Throughout Transit Week, Ride New Orleans will promote education and engagement in critical issues confronting transit riders and encourage New Orleanians to leave their cars at home and try transit.
During Transit Week, a variety of events and activities are planned.
Ride New Orleans targeted the local business community by issuing an Employer Transit Challenge as a part of Transit Week. Ride New Orleans' Executive Director Rachel Heiligman says: "As a part of the Employer Transit Challenge, we're asking employers to encourage their staff to try a transit commute at least once during Transit Week. We want to make businesses aware that by encouraging their employees to ride transit, they can access significant tax credits and improve their bottom line."
Transit Week features events every evening of the week. On Monday through Thursday, Ride New Orleans will be teaming up with area bars to host transit-themed trivia nights. Participating bars include:
- MONDAY - NOVEMBER 12 - 8:00PM - Finn McCool's - 3701 Bank Street, 504.486.9080

Throughout the week, Ride New Orleans' volunteers will be on the ground at the CBD and Lakeview transit transfer stations talking with riders about their daily commute as a part of the ‘Transfer Station Conversation'. Heiligman says "our goal is to learn about what improvements at transfer stations in the CBD and on Canal Blvd would make the daily commute easier, safer, and more convenient."
