Full Gospel Baptist Church and Winn Dixie have partnered to
supply hundreds of needy New Orleans families with a greater Thanksgiving
Tuesday, November 20
th on Canal Street at the Joy Theater, by
providing them with a turkey, non-perishable trimmings and a gift card, just in
time for the holiday season!
Greater St. Stephen has presented the Greater Community | Turkey &
Trimmings Give-A-Way annually at its now defunct uptown location for the past
30+ years. The give-a-way grew to provide Thanksgiving dinner for two hundred
and fifty families. With the help of Winn-Dixie, this year's Turkey &
Trimmings Give-A-Way aims to provide the same for up to five hundred families.
"Winn-Dixie has been supporting the civic and charitable efforts of our team
members and store guest since 1925. Being a good corporate citizen and a good
neighbor in the communities we serve has been a part of the Winn-Dixie
philosophy and remains a fundamental part of the way we do business. We are
proud to support the Greater Community | Turkey & Trimmings Give-A-Way
hosted by Greater St. Stephen because it truly makes a positive impact in our
community." said Beth Goldenberg, Winn Dixie's Manager of Neighborhood
Involvement.
Pastor Debra B. Morton said, "I am so excited about this year's ‘Greater
Community | Turkey & Trimmings Give-a-Way! Not only are we thrilled
to be at the renowned Joy Theater every Sunday for Worship but are truly
grateful to have Winn Dixie partner with our wonderful congregation to serve
the needy in that area! This is such a positive example of God's love extending
beyond church walls to connect with others in the community who care! In this
season, it is a warm feeling to know that we are rebuilding more than physical
buildings, but people's lives. Happy Thanksgiving to All! "
For more than 70 years, Greater St. Stephen has been a catalyst for change and
spiritual advancement not only in New Orleans, LA but also in the world. Over
the decades, Greater St. Stephen under its visionaries, Bishop Paul S. Morton,
Sr. and Dr. Debra B. Morton, has been known as one of the largest Pentecostal
congregation in Louisiana.
