WHAT: Come Join the Fun at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel for the Downtown Development District's Canal Street Lighting

WHEN: Tuesday, November 20, 2012

WHERE: The Astor Crowne Plaza; 739 Canal Street (corner Canal & Bourbon streets)

TIME:  5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

ADMISSION:  Free and open to the public

On November 20, stroll along Canal Street and watch as the Downtown Development District and the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel "flip the switch," turning on more than 1 million twinkling lights on New Orleans' grand corridor.  The Fannie C. Williams Charter School Choir will entertain the crowd gathered for the lighting.

The public is invited to stop by the Astor's St. Charles Ballroom just off the lobby from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and decorate your own holiday cookie while enjoying complimentary hot cocoa or apple cider. Santa will be there to hear your wish list for the holidays. A Sugar Plum Fairy will greet everyone, kids can participate in a holiday bean bag toss and a strolling puppeteer will entertain kids young and old!  Bring an unwrapped, new toy and receive a free photo with Santa! Toys donated will benefit the children of the women served by Dress for Success New Orleans.

Built in 2002, the Astor Crowne Plaza is a grand hotel with 693 elegantly appointed rooms including 33 spacious suites, strategically located at the corner of Bourbon and Canal streets.  Conveniently situated in the heart of downtown and at the French Quarter's edge, the address also serves as home to the award-winning Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House restaurant, one of the most popular dining establishments in New Orleans.  Renowned for its unsurpassed hospitality, the hotel offers 32,000 square feet of outstanding meeting space, outdoor balconies overlooking Bourbon, Canal and Iberville streets.  Please visit for complete information.
