SOUTHERN REP THEATRE'S NEW PLAY PROGRAM PRESENTS 3X3: THE ONE ACTS by Kerry Cahill, Michael Santos, and Jon Broder AT MID-CITY THEATRE

New Orleans--Southern Rep continues its "New Plays New Orleans" mission with 3X3: THE ONE ACTS by Kerry Cahill, Michael Santos, and Jon Broder, continues a year-long cycle presenting works by eleven senior members of 6X6 Play Slam. The 6X6 Play Slam, now in its third year, is a group of local playwrights who write 10-minute plays which are presented six times a year by Southern Rep Theatre. 3X3: THE ONE ACTS runs January 14th and 15th, 2013, at 7:30pm, at Mid-City Theatre, 3540 Toulouse Street, New Orleans, LA.

"The most vital and necessary work we do at Southern Rep Theatre is creating programs that develop and support our local playwrights. Our goal is to nurture and provide outlets for the very talented playwrights that are in our great city. The 6X6 Play Slam, and now 3X3, were created to get writers writing-and it works. The 6X6 Play Slam and DEBAUCHERY by Pat Bourgeois, a monthly NOLA soap opera, just celebrated their two-year anniversaries. Audiences are hungry for new plays in New Orleans!"
                                               --Aimée Hayes, Producing Artistic Director

3X3: THE ONE ACTS include:

LANDINGS by Kerry Cahill. Directed by Pamela Davis-Noland, with Adella Gautier, Sherri Marina and Samantha Beaulieu

A dark, chilling, and funny-at-times play about reckoning; an African-American matriarch battling dementia, siblings struggling for affection, a family fighting to stay a family.

EVE'S MISBEGOTTEN by Michael Santos. Directed by James Yeargain,
with AJ Allegra and Ian Hoch.

Three age-old friends join in a weekly ritual of beer, crude jokes, maternal insults, and pondering the meaning of life.

COLOR & TONE by Jon Broder. Directed by Jessica Podewell with Richard Hutton, Tari Hohn and Cecile Monteyne

Synesthesia - n. A condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color.

Southern Rep's 3x3 Playwrights include Pat Bourgeois, Jon Broder, Kerry Cahill, Madison Curry, Lucy Faust, Jared Gore, Mike Harkins, Brian Sands, Michael Aaron Santos, Lisa Shattuck, and Paul Werner. The 6X6 Play Slam recently celebrated its two-year anniversary. More than 25 playwrights, 50 directors and 100s of actors have participated in this program which continues its monthly run at Mid-City Theatre.
