NEW ORLEANS AUCTION GALLERIES TO PRESENT BIDDERS, BRUNCH & BUBBLES JAN. 19

A fresh approach to decorating with antiques

(NEW ORLEANS, LA) - Jan. 8, 2013 - On Saturday, January 19, 2013, New Orleans Auction Galleries, in partnership with Gambit Weekly and Martin Wine Cellar, will present their Bidders, Brunch & Bubbles Auction. The gallery opens at 9 a.m. with the "Bidders" live auction beginning at 10 a.m. - ‘till and "Brunch & Bubbles" served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This auction event features the work of six local designers, each of whom will create unique vignettes demonstrating how easily and effectively novice collectors can incorporate period items into even the most contemporary of collections.  

Interior designers include:

  • Nomita Joshi-Gupta - Raised in India and studied architecture in the United States, her style is best described as a Bohemian Modern. Architect and co-owner of Spruce Eco-Studio, which specializes in collections supporting environmental and socially responsible lifestyles, Nomita showcases outstanding eco-design and take on custom design projects from kitchens & baths to full residences and small commercial.
  • Chet Pourciau - Chet is known locally as the "DIY" guy and has a reputation for being environmentally friendly. He is the host of Chet Chat on WLAE-TV and is WVUE-TV Fox 8's resident designer with two weekly ongoing segments on design and fashion. Chet Pourciau Design opened a retail store in 2009, at 3652 Magazine Street in New Orleans.
  • Shaun Smith - Shaun Smith Home is a residential and commercial design firm and boutique based in New Orleans. Utilizing a mixture of modern and rustic design components with simple and clean lines, Shaun captures New Orleans living in a way that rejuvenates, inspires, and encompasses the essence of living well.
  • Elizabeth Sullivan - After living in Mexico and New York City with extensive travels throughout the world, Elizabeth chose New Orleans as home base. She shares her love of modern design with residential clients and operates Interior Designs, Inc. on Magazine Street.
  • Lynn Bowker - Lynn's design projects extend from Maine to the French Quarter to Mexico. Lynn is currently the staff decorator for the New Orleans Auction Galleries.
  • Jennifer Cheatham - Jennifer Cheatham Design Company offers complete interior design services for the greater New Orleans area. Focusing on residential interior design, services include custom finish specifications for new homes, space planning, lighting design, budget analysis and planning. Cheatham Designs also specializes in custom draperies and is a complete resource for furniture, shades, accessories and more.

Businesswoman Susan D. Krohn, owner of Cakebread Art Antiques Collectibles, purchased the assets of New Orleans Auction Galleries last summer.

Guests are welcome to view the Bidders, Brunch and Bubbles exhibition at the Gallery, located at 510 Julia Street, on Jan. 14 through Jan. 18, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. with an evening preview on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 5 - 7 p.m.
