FREE OUTDOOR SCREENING OF AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY ‘T-GALOP' AFTER RACES MARCH 9

NEW ORLEANS (Wednesday, February 6, 2013) - The New Orleans Film Society, the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots present a free outdoor screening of the award-winning documentary film T-GALOP: A LOUISIANA HORSE STORY after the races at Fair Grounds on March 9, a Saturday, at about 7 p.m. Admission for the screening is free, as is Grandstand general admission for that day's racing. First post (the first race of the day) is 1 p.m.

The film will be projected onto a screen along the trackside apron, near the winner's circle. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served in the trackside bleachers and the Grandstand, but lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged for the space along the apron closest to the screen.

T-GALOP, which explores the ties betweens Louisianans and horses, was awarded the Louisiana Feature Film Prize at the 2012 New Orleans Film Festival. A portion of the film focuses on the rich history of Cajun jockeys and horse racing at Louisiana's infamous bush tracks, past and present. Among the Louisiana-born riders featured prominently are Calvin Borel, a three-time winner of the Kentucky Derby, and Mark Guidry, a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and one of only a handful of jockeys to have won 5,000 races.

T-GALOP, funded in part by a grant from LEH, is written and directed by Lafayette-based filmmaker Conni Castille, whose previous films include King Crawfish, I Always Do My Collars First and Raised on Rice and Gravy.

No outside food or drinks will be permitted. Concessions will be available for purchase in the Fair Grounds Grandstand. No pets allowed.
