Who was, or is, your favorite super-heroine? Join us as we screen "Wonder Women: The Untold Story of American Superheroines" by Kristy Guevara-Flanagan. Watch as the film traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman. From the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s to the blockbusters of today, Wonder Women! The film looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect society's anxieties about women's liberation. A lively discussion follows. The screening is presented by Ashé Cultural Arts Center in partnership with WYES, ITVS, Community Cinema, the Charitable Film Network, and the New Orleans Film Society. Complimentary refreshments from Whole Foods will be served. For more information, contact Drena S. Clay at (504) 569-9070.
