The 6th Annual Louisiana Oyster Jubilee names "the Best Oyster Po-Boy"
in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS - March 9, 2013 -Today at the 6th Annual Louisiana Oyster Jubilee chefs from 17 restaurants throughout New Orleans competed to win the title of the "Best Oyster Po-Boy" in New Orleans. Each restaurant presented their version of the oyster po-boy to a team of judges for the competition.
And the winners were:
1st place - Café Reconcile
Smoked tomato and garlic-spiced aioli
2nd place - Tracy's
Avocado-aioli oyster club
3rd place - GW Fins
Roasted sun choke, celeriac, black truffle, watercress with truffle aioli
Judges for today's competition were:

Po-boys from the competition were also auctioned off to the Friends of the Fishermen fund, the officially endorsed fund of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board (LSPMB) that was created as a way to help Louisiana's fishermen in their greatest time of need. Those that took home top donation for the fund were:
$300 - The Original Pierre Maspero's
"The Oyster Mou Amouri": Oyster Brushed with a garlic and white wine butter dressed with a warm spinach salad, using tasso in place of bacon. Topped with crisped tasso and fried garlic
$250 - Red Fish Grill
BBQ Oyster Poboy dressed with lettuce, tomato, red onion and housemade blue cheese dressing
$205 - Oceana Grill
The LSPMB and New Orleans Musical Legends, Inc. hosted the 6th annual Louisiana Oyster Jubilee. The Oyster Jubilee celebrates the local delicacy that is an integral part of the unique culinary culture of Louisiana. In addition to the competition, the Jubilee featured the Longest Oyster Po-Boy, built by over 30 of New Orleans' renowned restaurants. The colossal po-boy was stuffed with 5,500 Louisiana harvested oysters and sprawled across 340 feet of Bourbon Street.
