Scheduled Charter Flights from New Orleans to Cancun to Begin

(NEW ORLEANS, LA) - Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and Vacation Express, one of the largest tour operators in the southeast United States with over 22 years of experience in the charter business, has announced non-stop seasonal service via Aero México from New Orleans to Cancun. AeroMéxico will begin the service on May 26 and operate through August 11, 2013.

The new charter air service to the popular vacation destination will be aboard an AeroMéxico B737-700 aircraft with a seating capacity of 124 passengers (12 First Class and 112 Coach Seats). The weekly flight will operate on Sundays. The scheduled flights will be on AeroMéxico flight 9278 that departs Cancun at 10:40 a.m. and arrives in New Orleans at 12:55 p.m.  The return flight will be AeroMéxico flight 9279 that departs New Orleans at 2:10 p.m. and arrives in Cancun at 4:25 p.m.

All flights are currently are on sale and filed with the Department of Transportation (DOT). Flights may be booked at the Vacation Express website www.vacationexpress.com or directly at 1-800-309-4717 nationwide.  Vacation Express has added the New Orleans market to its lineup of an extensive scheduled air program to the Caribbean, Mexico and Costa Rica from most U.S. cities.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said, "We are pleased to announce this new non-stop service to Cancun. Cancun is a popular international location for travel and we feel this new service will be well received. Like our great city, Cancun is a premier destination that offers a variety of attractions for all ages."

"Cancun, Mexico will be our 40th non-stop destination and our second international destination together with Toronto, Canada," said Iftikhar Ahmad, Director of Aviation at Armstrong International Airport. "As we work with our business community and the State on international flights to Europe and Latin America, we are glad to have Vacation Express introduce this flight in our community."

Armstrong International Airport encourages passengers traveling to arrive at the airport two (2) hours prior to their scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for parking, check-in, and security screening.   With many great food venues and retail opportunities, it's a chance to experience what is new at the Airport.
