MACY'S iHEARTRADIO RISING STAR 2012 AWARD WINNER MEGAN & LIZ FILM AN ACOUSTIC SET ON THE BALCONY OF THE HOTEL MAISON DE VILLE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

As part of the Macy's Great American Road Trip award winners Megan & Liz teamed up with FILTER to produce Macy's Great American Road Trip.  The duet filmed a video at the Hotel Maison de Ville on Saturday April 20th that will debut as part of a web series at macys.com

Macy's iHeartRadio Rising Star campaign pitted up-and-coming musicians from across the nation in a battle of the best that music has to offer.  Following the competition the winners performed as the opening act for the September iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas and are now on their way across the country, partnered with FILTER magazine, on the Macy's Great American Road Trip.  No tour of the US's most famous music cities would be complete without a stop in the crescent city and the Hotel Maison de Ville proudly played host to the rising stars for their scheduled video shoot today.

The Maison de Ville (French for Townhouse) is a three-story structure that was built by Jean Baptiste Lille Sarpy in 1783, in what was at the time the center of the city.  The main building of the property, located at 727 Toulouse Street, boasts all of the charm that has made French Quarter architecture famous.  The front door alone, with its panel of etched glass between two sections of elaborately carved wood, once graced the old St. Louis Hotel and was moved to Maison de Ville when the St. Louis was almost completely destroyed by a hurricane in 1915.  Wrought iron balcony railings, hardwood floors, wood shuttered windows and carved wood sign above the front door have been well cared for and are all enhanced by the 19th century furnishings within the hotel.  The award winning Megan & Liz and the FILTER Magazine (who's slogan is "Good music will prevail") team shot for about three hours total, partly on the street-side balcony and concluding in the main parlor of the hotel.  The video will be released online via the Macy's American Icons site at www.macys.com/AmericanIcons on May 15th.

The Macy's Great American Road Trip is part of Macy's "American Icons" program.  Macy's chief marketing officer, Martine Reardon, is quoted in Business Wire as saying: "Macy's is America's Department Store and through this campaign we're celebrating the unique people, places and things that make our country great.  In addition to collections from incredible brands including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Michael Kors, we're embarking on a nationwide tribute that will feature some of America's most beloved and nostalgic pastimes...".  Megan & Liz will represent the country's best music in the cities famous for the same across the US.  Follow the young artists' journey at macys.com/icons starting May 4th to see the footage of the shoot here in New Orleans and to get to know the rising stars via their road trip experiences.

Megan & Liz may be 19 year old Americans but they are anything but average.  The fraternal twins have been posting original songs on YouTube for the last few years and been staking claims to internet fame for nearly as long.  The MeganandLiz YouTube channel has worked its way up to the top, most subscribed channel list with over 955,000 subscribers, according to statsheep.com.  The artists have worked with songwriter Paula Winger, Canadian singer-songwriter Alexz Johnson, fellow American up-and-comer Jimmy Robbins and have been featured on Celebuzz! And are also involved with the Do Something organization against bullying.  Their 2011 song, "Are You Happy Now?" was recorded for the ant-bullying organization and premiered on Teen.com in October of 2011.  On April 16th the ladies tweeted about their trip to New Orleans and invited fans to email them at meganandlizmacysroadtrip@gmail.com if they "wanna hang out".  Drop them a line to try and win tickets to the shoot at Maison de Ville!
