New Orleans, LA The Foundation Gallery, 608 Julia Street, presents the work of Zhang Chongguang with an opening reception on May 11, 2013, from 7p.m. - 10p.m. Mr. Zhang is a versatile and renowned Chinese artist. Specializing in Chinese calligraphy, he is also an expert in portrait and landscape paintings.Mr. Zhang's work has been recognized with numerous honors and distinctions, but has rarely been seen in the United States. Mr.

Zhang's career began at age 16, when his work was selected for a national exhibit in Beijing, and then sent by China Artists Association to the International Youth Art Exhibit at Vienna, Austria. In the half century since, Mr. Zhang has held numerous exhibits within and outside of China. At the end of 2002, Mr. Zhang took part in the Artists' Delegation  to Macau and Thailand; in 2004, Mr. Zhang participated in the Sixth China Culture Festival in Washington, DC, where he exhibited his works and gave lectures on traditional Chinese art. The American Chinese newspaper American Times introduced his works in a special edition of the paper. In 2009, his calligraphy work Shaking the Heaven and Startling the Earth was turned into the largest stone engravings in history.

His works are collected by China National Museum, Capital Museum, Shanghai Archives, Dunhuang Gallery, the King Palace of Thailand, as well as many individual art collectors from around the world. Proceeds from the sale of Mr. Zhang's artwork at The Foundation Gallery will be donated to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) New Orleans.

The Foundation Gallery is a philanthropic gallery operated by The Heymann Foundation, where proceeds from the sale of artwork are always donated to charities such as Lead Safe Louisiana, Bridge House and Alzheimer's Foundation. Following the opening reception, Mr. Zhang's work will be on exhibit at The Foundation Gallery until July 6, 2013. The Foundation Gallery, 608 Julia Street, is open from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; closed Sunday and Monday.  For more information, visit www.foundationgallerynola.com or phone (504) 568-0955.
