New Orleans wins Silver in Favorite Big City Destination and Gold for Favorite Culinary Destination

NEW ORLEANS - May 16, 2013 - The National Tour Association (NTA) has awarded New Orleans with two honors at their Second Annual Distinct Dozen Awards. The awards, recognizing product quality and partnership, are distributed based on votes by NTA tour operators.

Winners of the categories such as Favorite Big City Destination and Favorite Cruise Experience were awarded with gold, bronze, or silver, and some categories were tied.  The New Orleans CVB was awarded in the following categories:

  • Silver in Favorite Big City Destination, tied with the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and behind NYC and Company's gold
  • Gold in Favorite Culinary Destination, followed by a silver three-way tie between Visit California, New York State Division of Tourism and Travel Portland

Founded in 1951, the NTA is the leading network serving travelers to, from, and within North America. The Association currently serves over 600 destinations, 1,500 tour suppliers, and 1,500 tour operators. Their buyer members buy travel product both domestically and internationally, while their seller members comprise the largest network of any association in the travel industry. The NTA has representation in every state in the United States, in Canadian provinces and in 40 countries.
