KERMIT RUFFINS AND MIKE "SOUL MAN" BAPTISTE CLOSE OUT THE SPRING 2013 JAZZ IN THE PARK CONCERT SERIES
Third Season Ends on Celebratory Note with Two True Champions of Armstrong Park, Treme, and New Orleans

New Orleans, June 10, 2013-The People United for Armstrong Park (PUfAP) is excited to present the finale of its successful Jazz in the Park spring 2013 concert series on June 13, 2013.

Mike "Soul Man" Baptiste performs at 5PM.  Headliner Kermit Ruffins hits the stage at 6:30PM.

Kermit's most recent CD, We Partyin' Traditional Style!, has been on Billboard's Top Twenty Jazz Albums chart since its release.  Produced by Grammy Award-winning Tracey Freeman, the album features a powerhouse lineup that delivers some of Kermit's favorite jazz compositions: Shannon Powell, Steve Pistorius, Richard Moten, Don Vappie, Lucien Barbarin, Tom Fischer, and Mykia Jovan.

The Marketplace at Armstrong Park, an open-air farmers and arts market produced by The Institute of Community Development (www.icdnola.org), opens to the public at 3PM.  Fresh and prepared foods, as well as locally made crafts, are available for purchase, with the additional convenience of a grocery valet so patrons may shop and enjoy the music at the same time.  This grocery valet service is courtesy of the Marketplace at Armstrong Park.  The gastronomic delights of some of New Orleans' best food trucks round out the menu options.

A kids' craft and play area is available to offer enrichment activities and fun while families attend the Jazz in the Park shows.  There is a spacewalk, and a face-painting artist also will be on hand.

Primary sponsorship for the series is provided by The NOLA Brewing Company.  Jazz in the Park is also generously supported by The American Music Research Foundation, The City of New Orleans, Bernard Productions, C&G Construction, OffBeat, Tito's Handmade Vodka, Old New Orleans Louisiana Rum, WWOZ, Fleurty Girl, Basin St. Station, Hyatt Regency New Orleans, NOSACONN, Bissap Breeze, Center Staging, The Institute of Community Development, Vitascope Hall, WWL, Vanguard Film and Video Productions, BreakThru Media, North Rampart Main Street, Inc., Bike Easy, Nola LIVE, and Bernard Productions.
