OGDEN AFTER HOURS TO RECEIVE EMPOWER MUSICIANS SEAL OF APPROVAL FROM SWEET HOME NEW ORLEANS
Celebration of the Ogden Museuam of Southern Art's Commitment to Musical Practices

New Orleans, LA- As part of the Empower Musicians, seal of Approval initiative, Sweet Home New Orleans will be celebrating the Ogden Museum of Southern Art's commitment to best practices in music presentation.  Ogden Music Curator, Libra LaGrone will receive the Empower Musicians seal at this Thursday's Ogden After Hours, prior to a performance by guitarist and songwriter Colin Lake.

"The Ogden may seem like an unusual choice for an initiative aimed at raising the bar for traditional music venues," said Sue Mobley, Executive Director at Sweet Home, "however, the practices LaGrone has in place are exactly what we want to see. Musicians feel respected at the Ogden, they know there's a contract, that they will get royalties. A huge amount of care goes into doing things right."

Music venues which carry the Empower Musicians, Seal of Approval have been evaluated on a 30-point metric, which was developed from musician focus groups. These New Orleans venues have embraced music business best practices and excel in Transparency and Compensation of Musicians, Show Marketing, Venue Sound Quality, and Social Responsibility.

WHAT: Awarding of Empower Musicians, Seal of Approval
DATE: JUNE 13, 2013
TIME: 5:30 PM
LOCATION: The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, 925 Camp St.
