The SAENGER THEATRE welcomes D.L. HUGHLEY AND EDDIE GRIFFIN

 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 8 PM
TICKETS NOW ON SALE

New Orleans, August 20, 2013 - D.L. Hughley and Eddie Griffin, two of today's most talented stand-up comedians, will perform together Friday, October 4 at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, LA.  Tickets are on sale now for the chance to see two great comedic talents in one night.

D.L. Hughley

One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today has also made quite an impression in the television, film and radio arenas.

Known for being astute and politically savvy in true comedian style, D.L. served as host of his own late night talk show on CNN "D.L. Hughley Breaks the News."   Proving he could, indeed break news, D.L. was able to uncover startling, news-making comments from such guests as former White House press secretaries Scott McClellan and Ari Fleischer, as well as RNC chair Michael Steele.

He is a regular on the late night talk show circuit, including always-memorable appearances on "Real Time with Bill Maher," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Conan."  He is frequently requested, and has even guest hosted on such shows as, "The View" and "Live with Regis & Kelly."

In addition, D.L. has headlined several comedy specials including "D.L. Hughley: Going Home," "D.L. Hughley Live", "Shocked & Appalled" and the recent "Unapologetic".

D.L.'s first love always has been, and always will be, standup comedy.  "From the minute I first walked onstage and picked up a microphone," he says, "I knew that it was what I was meant to do."

Eddie Griffin

A popular comedian turned actor who started his career on-stage as a dare, funnyman Eddie Griffin has built an ever-growing fan base since jumping onto the comedy scene in 1990.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Eddie was voted class clown three years in a row in high school. His first love was always dance and by the young age of 16, he opened his own dance studio and was choreographing the Kansas City Chiefs half-time shows. But all of that would soon change when one night his cousin dared him to go on stage at the local comedy club Sanford and Sons where he was told to do 3 minutes. He performed off-the-cuff for 45 minutes successfully. It was then that Griffin purchased a one-way ticket to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a stand up.

Comedy Central honored him as the Top 100 Greatest Stand-ups of all time.

Eddie Griffin has conquered not only the stage, but the silver screen as well. He has appeared in over 50 films and numerous television shows. Griffin is also a gifted Actor, Dancer, Choreographer and Singer.

Tickets for D.L. Hughley and Eddie Griffin are on sale now. They are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.  The box office at the Saenger Theatre is still under construction, but tickets for all Saenger Theatre shows may be purchased at the Mahalia Jackson Theater box office at 1419 Basin Street Mon-Fri 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ticket prices: $25.00, $45.00, $55.00, $75.00. All tickets subject to applicable service charges and fees.

Saenger Theatre
Originally built in 1927, the Saenger Theatre was designed to reflect a magnificent 15th century Italian courtyard and gardens, with a starlit evening sky ceiling, arched surroundings, statuary, columns and decorative moldings. In January 2012, the City of New Orleans, Canal Street Development Corporation (CSDC) and ACE Theatrical Group formed a public-private partnership to carry out a $52 million restoration project after the iconic theatre was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The Saenger Theatre will reopen in fall 2013, authentically restored to the finest level of detail, with state-of-the-art technological improvements and updated first-class amenities. The theatre will host a wide variety of performing arts attractions including live theater, comedy shows and musical acts. The Saenger Theatre is located at the corner of Canal and North Rampart streets in downtown New Orleans and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
